Sweets & Treats is an old-fashioned lolly shop in Richmond, set within the heritage-listed sandstone façade of the former Bridge Inn. The building was originally Richmond’s first pub, operating from 1834 to 1975, and was restored in 1985 when the shop moved in. Today, its traditional setting provides a fitting home for rows of glass jars filled with sweets weighed out by staff, bringing a distinctly nostalgic feel to a visit.

The range covers soft jellies, hard rock candy, chocolates, toffees, nuts, liquorice, coconut ice and other treats, with products sourced from Tasmania, elsewhere in Australia and selected European imports. There are also packaged sweets and a hot nut bar. The shop’s focus is variety, with options described across different textures and flavours, from chewy and crunchy to sweet, sour and chocolate-coated. It is an easy stop for choosing a few favourites to take away, or for browsing something new.

Sweets & Treats also operates as a café and ice cream shop. Its locally made ice cream is served alongside premium coffee, iced drinks, classic milkshakes and waffles prepared to order. There is seating inside as well as a large outdoor courtyard, giving visitors the choice to settle in or simply pick up a treat while exploring Richmond. The business has been family-run in Tasmania for more than 40 years. Susan Wurf founded it in 1985 as a much smaller shop, and it expanded into its current L-shaped premises after a major 2015 renovation. In 2023, Susan’s daughter Imogen and her wife Catherine returned to the business, later taking ownership in July 2025 and beginning its second generation. With its broad sweet selection, café offerings and mix of indoor and courtyard seating, the Richmond shop suits families, groups of friends and solo visitors looking for a relaxed stop with something sweet to browse or enjoy.
