Why it's worth checking out
Kings Bridge Bar & Restaurant in Launceston focuses on local produce, using it as the basis for its dishes. The venue also offers a broad selection of local beers and wines to enjoy with a meal.
Dietary requirements and allergies can be discussed with the staff, who say they will accommodate guests where possible. With a broad range of dishes and functions available, it may suit different types of visits, from a meal with friends to a group gathering.
The restaurant occupies the historic Penny Royal Watermill building. Built in 1840 by Andrew Gatenby, his son George and around 30 assigned convicts and ticket-of-leave men, the structure was made by hand from thousands of stone blocks and large timber beams. It was moved from its original site on the Midlands Highway to Paterson Street in Launceston in 1972, where it began a new life as part of a motel and restaurant complex. That history gives Kings Bridge a distinctive setting without the need for added decoration.
Spot Score
The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.0 from 803 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
