Why it's worth checking out
Daisy Bank Cottages is a farmstay in Richmond, Tasmania, set on a working property overlooking the village and about 20 minutes from the airport. It offers a peaceful base for exploring the Coal River Valley, where cool-climate wines, local produce and Richmond’s historic character are close by. The surrounding area also provides plenty to eat, drink, see and do, while the farm gives guests a quieter place to return to.
Accommodation is spread across three distinct options. Tiny Hill Lookout is an off-grid tiny home for two, with a loft queen bedroom and a private outdoor bath. Jessie’s Cottage is designed for couples and sleeps two to three, combining a loft bedroom with a king-sized bed and a spa bath. Libby’s Cottage sleeps up to four and is suited to couples or families, with a loft king bedroom and two single beds. Together, the options cover a secluded couples’ stay, a rural retreat for two or three, and a more flexible cottage for a small family.
The cottages are housed in a converted sandstone barn dating from about 1830. The building began as a general-purpose farm barn, later became a shearing shed, and was converted into accommodation in 1991. Its history is closely tied to the Jones family, who have been part of Daisy Bank for generations. Ben Jones grew up on the property and, with his wife Hana, now manages the accommodation while continuing aspects of farm life, including merino wool and meat production.
There is plenty of rural life to notice around the property, including free-ranging chickens, two horses and three dogs. A bush reserve contains white gum and black peppermint forest, with orchids appearing in October and November. Daisy Bank suits couples looking for a quiet Richmond escape, as well as families wanting room for up to four people and a farm setting with a strong sense of place. Its combination of historic buildings, self-contained accommodation and an active family farm makes it more than a simple overnight stop in the Coal River Valley.
Spot Score
The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.9 from 40 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
